Dr. Kamran Tavakkoli from Nova Dental Partners helped me with a new device for my obstructive sleep apnea. He and his staff took several impressions of my teeth to get the right fit and he worked closely with the device manufacturer to get the measurements just right. I was greeted by Janelle the office manager who was very nice and friendly and gave me my np paperwork. Once completed she got me all checked in and Betty the dental assistant called me back. I’ve actually worked in a dental setting but I am NOT a happy patient lol but Betty made everything so easy. She was so gentle and even told me I was doing a “good job” that put me at ease even more. Morgan came in and did a very detailed cleaning accompanied by some nice hygiene instructions. (I need to floss more) Betty completed My cleaning with a polish and floss and I was feeling more comfortable by the minute. I waited for a few and Dr.Tavakkoli came in and introduced himself. Very professional and very nice. He did his exam and explained everything to me in regards to possible treatment. When I moved to Old Town, I was fortunate enough to find Nova Dental! I received excellent care from both Tavakkoli brothers. No matter which dentist you see, both brothers give you the same standard of excellent care. I am terrified of the dentist (as with basically the rest of the population). I have had the absolute pleasure of being worked on by both Dr. Kamran and Dr. Kambiz. They are the perfect blend of professional and human. At one of my appointments Dr. Kambiz was working on a young boy next to me and was awesome in how he explained everything in such a way that made the child comfortable and confident enough to ask questions. I've been a patient of the Drs. Tavakkoli for 17 years, starting at their Mount Vernon location and now at their Old Town office. They are wonderful dentists! I was a teenager when I began going to their practice and had a LOT of dental anxiety because of bad dental care as a child, and now all my anxiety around going to the dentist is gone! My teeth are in MUCH better shape now (3 years straight with no cavities or fillings!) and they did a great job repairing the damage from poor previous dental care. They're very respectful of patients' time, and I've never had an appointment start late. The doctors explain very clearly what your dental needs and options are, and I've never felt (unlike previous dentists) that they pushed unnecessary treatments. Their office also has very little turnover, so I've been seeing the same hygienists for years. They're great about appointment reminders (text and emails) and really good about giving advice about dental products. Their Old Town office is convenient to the Metro (two blocks from King Street) and my parents are patients at the Mount Vernon Office. They also accept most insurance and are really good about answering insurance coverage questions - no surprise charges! They're great about getting you in on short notice - I've had one emergency appointment after a crown cracked in half and they were able to fit me in a few hours after I called to fix the crown. I really like that the doctors take the time to explain what's going on with your teeth, unlike previous dentists who recommended treatments without much explanation. I've only been a patient here for about a month but I can say that this is the best dental practice that I've been to, EVER!! I found them on Google, Dr Kamran Tavakkoli was recommended as one of the best dentists in my area with really good reviews so I had high expectations going in and sure enough, they were right! The practice is in Old Town Alexandria, there's a parking garage for patients in the back and if it's full, they will pay for you to park by the roadside. The inside was clean and calming, with pleasant receptionists. My first cleaning was virtually painless, the hygienist took very good care and attention to make sure I was comfortable. A week later I had to come in for my deep cleaning and Theresa was amazing!! I was only there for about an hour each time. The staff are highly trained with great customer service and "bedside manners", I felt like I was the most important person there that day. Also, after your procedure, Dr Kamran comes in and checks you out to make sure everything went as planned. I was also given a goodie bag with a toothbrush, a toothpaste and floss on my way out. I love this place and can't wait to get my Invisalign procedure! Thanks Team! More

Phenomenal experience! I hadn't been to the dentist in a few years and was very anxious to go back after some traumatizing experiences with previous dentists (in Fredericksburg/Spotsylvania). I expressed my concerns/anxiety and the hygienist, Theresa (the Theresa with "Th"--there are two), was so helpful and supportive throughout the entire experience. I will not go anywhere else. Dr. Kamran helped me with the rest of the appointment and was very helpful and compassionate in discussing a couple of minor things that we needed to address. It was clear that he was completely present and interested in helping me get back on the right track. It was a very different experience than what I was used to--burnt out hygienists and doctors that have to get through your appointment so they can move on to the next one, etc. For as much anxiety as I had coming in, I felt safe and like the whole team was on my side.The King street location has a beautiful office as well--clean, comfortable, warm, and welcoming--I felt right at home :) More

As a patient in my 20s, I understand that I have quite a few more needs than most. However, NovaDental took care of all of my needs. When I had issues with my insurance, NovaDental went through multiple rounds of providing documents with my insurance company without making me do anything. They also are extremely easy in terms of scheduling etc. In addition to providing great patient service administratively, they have also been wonderful with patient care. Dr. Kamran Tavakkoli replaced both of my crowns and made them better looking than ever before. He also has relationships with great shade labs for crowns, and a periodontist for anyone with gum issues. When I moved from the Eastern Shore to DC, several years ago, I needed to find a dentist nearby, and a friend highly recommended Drs. Kamran and Kambiz Tavakkoli. They are excellent in every way; in fact, they are the best dentists I have ever encountered. They clearly explain all procedures and know ahead of time exactly what I will be feeling. They even say "Sorry" if a bit of discomfort is involved! They focus ONLY on necessary work, do the job quickly and never "manufacture" problems. I've been a patient of the Drs. Tavakkoli for 17 years, starting at their Mount Vernon location and now at their Old Town office. They are wonderful dentists! I was a teenager when I began going to their practice and had a LOT of dental anxiety because of bad dental care as a child, and now all my anxiety around going to the dentist is gone! My teeth are in MUCH better shape now (3 years straight with no cavities or fillings!) and they did a great job repairing the damage from poor previous dental care. They're very respectful of patients' time, and I've never had an appointment start late. The doctors explain very clearly what your dental needs and options are, and I've never felt (unlike previous dentists) that they pushed unnecessary treatments. Their office also has very little turnover, so I've been seeing the same hygienists for years. They're great about appointment reminders (text and emails) and really good about giving advice about dental products. Their Old Town office is convenient to the Metro (two blocks from King Street) and my parents are patients at the Mount Vernon Office. They also accept most insurance and are really good about answering insurance coverage questions - no surprise charges! They're great about getting you in on short notice - I've had one emergency appointment after a crown cracked in half and they were able to fit me in a few hours after I called to fix the crown. I really like that the doctors take the time to explain what's going on with your teeth, unlike previous dentists who recommended treatments without much explanation. I feel more in control of my dental care and have way less anxiety about it now - plus my teeth are in great shape. More

Before Nova Dental Partners, I was dentist-hopping for years. Here's what I love about -- and why I stick with -- Nova. From top to bottom, the people are excellent. Smiling receptionists greet you as you arrive, the hygienists are equal parts gentle and helpful, and Dr. Tavakkoli is kind, professional and always has time for his patients. Unlike other offices, I never felt like this practice was trying to sell me something I didn't need or merely using my visit as a way to extract money from an insurance company. If you're looking for a dentist in the Old Town Alexandria area, Nova Dental Partners would be an excellent choice. It is in walking distance from the King Street Metro (yellow and blue lines), and there is plenty of street parking as well. It's close to the downtown Old Town area so it would be easy to check out some shops or restaurants after your appointment! The front staff is always so friendly and helpful. Paige helped me out today and she was very kind and efficient. It is also easy to schedule appointments over the phone (though they do fill up quickly so I would recommend scheduling your appointments ASAP!) This was my second time here and every time I have had a great experience. I started off with Kate, who was so sweet. She cleaned and polished my teeth and gave me some great tips on how to keep my gums and teeth healthy. She was quick yet very gentle- it was all very painless and my teeth feel so clean now! She was great at small talk and made me feel welcome and comfortable the entire time. Then, Pat helped me out and I did a Flouride rinse to help prevent cavities since I am very prone to them. They have two flavors- mint and berry. I've gone with mint each time. You just have to swish around the liquid for a minute. No rinsing afterwards. This is usually just done for kids so I did have a $39 co-pay, which is worth it if it keeps the cavities away! Finally, Dr. Tavakkoli came around for a final check up- he looked at my scans and charts and then took a look at all my teeth. He noticed two old fillings from childhood that need to be replaced so I will be back to get that done in a month. There are two dentists here and they are brothers. I have met both now and they are both very nice. I haven't had any major procedures done yet but will update my review when I do. Overall, a 5 star dentist experience! They have a spacious waiting room and even have little water bottles in a mini fridge. I barely had to wait and everything only took about half an hour. I felt taken care of and never felt like anyone was ever in a rush. They take great care here and are meticulous about quality work. I would highly recomend this dental practice! More

If you’re looking for a dentist in the Old Town Alexandria area, Nova Dental Partners would be an excellent choice. It is in walking distance from the King Street Metro (yellow and blue lines), and there is plenty of street parking as well. It’s close to the downtown Old Town area so it would be easy to check out some shops or restaurants after your appointment!The front staff is always so friendly and helpful. Paige helped me out today and she was very kind and efficient. The staff throughout the office - from the front desk to the dental hygienists to Dr. Tavakkoli himself - are extremely kind, helpful and efficient. The two brothers at this practice, Drs. Kamran & Kambiz, are so amazing! Both them, their front desk staff, and team of hygienists are professional, respectful, friendly, and informative. New equipment and very modern facility on the third floor of the building. Making appointments is always easy and a flash. They also are good about giving you reminders for your six month check ups. Love the "goodie bags" after each check up: choice of toothbrush colors, sensodyne toothpaste, and woven fluoride floss. Gloria is my favorite hygienist. She remembers me every time too. The two brothers at this practice, Drs. Kamran & Kambiz, are so amazing! Both them, their front desk staff, and team of hygienists are professional, respectful, friendly, and informative. New equipment and very modern facility on the third floor of the building. Making appointments is always easy and a flash. They also are good about giving you reminders for your six month check ups. Love the "goodie bags" after each check up: choice of toothbrush colors, sensodyne toothpaste, and woven fluoride floss. Gloria is my favorite hygienist. She remembers me every time too.
